Azores diving 2014 - Underwater gallery from coral reef

Here is my diving photo gallery from an unforgettable underwater adventure in the Azores, where the Atlantic Ocean reveals its spectacular marine biodiversity. During this incredible dive, I encountered an amazing variety of fascinating creatures that make these volcanic islands a world-class diving destination. The highlight was definitely spotting the magnificent moray eels hiding in rocky crevices, their serpentine bodies gracefully moving through the underwater landscape. I was mesmerized by the ethereal beauty of jellyfish drifting peacefully in the blue water, their translucent bodies creating an almost magical atmosphere. One of the most thrilling moments was encountering the massive giant grouper, an impressive specimen that commanded respect with its enormous presence. The colorful parrotfish, specifically the female Sparisoma, added vibrant splashes of color to the reef with their distinctive beaks and beautiful patterns. I also discovered the delicate beauty of sea slugs, these tiny nudibranchs showcasing nature's incredible artistry in miniature form. The bearded fireworm, with its distinctive bristles, crawled along the ocean floor, while a clever octopus demonstrated its remarkable intelligence and camouflage abilities. A hermit crab scuttled across my path, carrying its borrowed home, while the well-camouflaged scorpionfish remained nearly invisible against the rocky bottom. The grey triggerfish swam confidently nearby, and finally, I was blessed to observe elegant rays gliding gracefully over the sandy seabed, their wing-like fins propelling them through the water with effortless beauty. This dive truly captured the extraordinary diversity of Azorean marine life.
